Potomac Module Crew's Web Site: How this web site was done.
This web site was produce with the help of the following Macintosh applications:
HTML and CSS:
Currently the web site is being manual coded using Bare Bone Software's BBEdit Free Mode (v12.6.7)
Web site started with GoLive CyberStudio Version 3.1.1, then went to Adobe GoLive CS2 8.0.1.
After Adobe GoLive CS2 went away, switch to Bare Bone Software's TextWrangler v2.0 thru 5.5.1 till it's sunset in July 2017
At that point, July 2017, switch to BBEdit Free Mode.
Graphics:
Key Map and Signage only
Currently, key map and signage are done in Vectorworks 2014 & 2016 then convert to TIF then GIF via GraphicConverter 6.
Original key map and signage where done in Adobe Illustrator 8.0.1 then convert GIF files via GraphicConverter 6.
Icons and Buttons
Currently, icons and buttons are done in Vectorworks 2014 & 2016 then convert to TIF then GIF via GraphicConverter 6.
Original icons and buttons done Adobe Illustrator 8.0.1 and GraphicConverter 6. Graphic files are GIF.
Module Drawings and plan designs
Currently, module standard drawings are done in Vectorworks 2014 & 2016, then printed to PDF file for download and to TIF to GIF file for the web GraphicConverter 6.
Original drawn done MiniCAD 6.0.4 then exported into EPS file format which is then open in Adobe Illustrator.
Again, the file is exported into either JPG file format for use as downloads or GIF file format for use on the web via Adobe ImageReady 2.0 for compression.
Photographs:
Original photographs where done Adobe PhotoShop 5.5, and Adobe ImageReady 2.0. Updated photographic are being done in GraphicConverter 6 and Apple iPhoto. The photograph files are JPEG and set to 150dpi.
All programs listed above are also available on Windows 8 / Windows 10 with the expect for GraphicConverter 6 and BBEdit which are Macintosh only. Adobe GoLive CS2 was discontinue in 2008 and was replace with Adobe Dreamweaver.
The web site was original design to operator from modem speeds of 28.8k bps and upward with the general range of 28.8k bps to 56k bps. This was done for the days of dialup modems. We still have members who are still on dialup out in the rural area.
Web site start on AOL Server from December 05, 1997 till February 15, 2003. Then the site was moved to Apple's Mac.com server till it Apple shut down the serves on June 30, 2012. The site then move to Host Gator on January 20, 2013 after few months offline due webmaster's family health issues.
